FINDING HOME: Portraits and Memories of Immigrants features the photography of Becky Field.
Since 2012, Becky Field has documented the cultural, ethnic and religious diversity in this state through her photography and recorded stories of immigrants’ journeys. Her work celebrates people from other countries who resettled in New Hampshire.
The images and stories in this exhibit represent a mix of age, gender, New Hampshire communities, and countries of origin. Some people came to escape violence; some came for love; some came for jobs or education. Some are teenagers with much life ahead of them; some are elders with long memories. The immigrants’ stories, in their own words transcribed from recordings, document the determination of people to find safety, education, work, and freedom, while the photos show the vitality of cultural diversity that contributes to the strength and vitality of our communities.
Join us for an opening reception on Friday, September 5th, from 5 - 7 pm at the Gallery at WREN. All are welcome at this free event.
