WREN Update – Hibernating and Reinventing in the New Year

As you all know, over the last year, WREN has struggled financially. Unfortunately, our attempts to turn around the operation, while preserving programs and staff have not worked. So, it’s time for more dramatic changes at WREN, changes that aren’t easy, but are necessary. As of December 31, 2018, all of WREN’s programs will either be pausing or ending and all paid staff will be laid off. (Click here for full information about membership renewals and specific programs.)

We make these changes to give WREN the time and resources in the new year to figure out what the future of WREN will look like. During the first quarter of 2019, WREN will be hibernating and working on reinvention. We will be inviting the entire community into this conversation and, if you are as passionate about WREN as we are, we encourage you to join the conversation. We hope that what will emerge will be a vibrant WREN for years to come.

In the meantime, what can you do to help ensure WREN’s future?

  • Shop at our stores for all of your holiday shopping needs. Both stores will remain open through December 31, with the great local and artisan products that you’ve grown to know and love.
  • Come to the opening of the Member Small Works Gallery show on December 7 from 5p-7p. It is our biggest show of the year with all art provided by our members! It is a chance to gather in community at this important time in WREN’s history.

We thank you for your ongoing support of WREN and we will keep you updated – expect something early in the new year.
